In this course you will learn about various pests and diseases of vegetables, basic plant pathology concepts like the disease triangle, as well as methods of disease spread, and disease control practices. You will also learn how to devise a plant health management plan for pests and diseases, understand the common pests and diseases of vegetable crops and their biology, their symptoms and how to control them, knowledge about different horticultural diagnostic services for pests and diseases, understanding the proper time of monitoring and recording of the occurrence of pests and diseases and learning different management practices.

Training Outcome

After completion of this course you will be equipped to identify different pests and diseases of vegetable crops, practically monitor and record their incidence and severity, and have the capability to identify and recommend the best possible control strategy. You will also have learnt how to identify problems during cultivation and their solution, identify good quality seeds, proper use of water and fertilizer at the right time with the correct dose, suggest the appropriate pesticide and/or insecticide to be used by farmers according to the specific need of the pest/ disease attack, and maintain the records of the pest and disease management activities.
