Cultivating young minds with Skills & Knowledge for establishing an Agriculturally Prosperous and Abundantly Green Future.
Agriculture is the largest segment of Pakistan’s economy with more than 25 million workforces directly engaged in it: 40% of the national workforce. However, productivity remains one of the lowest in the world at about 20%-60% lower than the best global average. Skilling programs under Haryali are focused on improving the productivity of farmers by adopting good farming practices and creating formal market linkages.
Women Training Livestock Management (WTLM) is one of such programs that was designed to improve income generation of rural women through productivity improvements in milk and meat by training them in overall livestock value chain management. In a duration of 6 weeks, the trainees were given classroom training (1 week) along with practical demonstrations (5 weeks). As a result of this program, there was an increased opportunity for fair and uniform pricing across all groups rather than the variable/lower pricing practices observed earlier. Post-training, 62% of trainees started breeding through AI practices and an increase of 20% in incomes was reported through industry linkages.
