This course aims at imparting practical skills and theoretical knowledge for developing adequately trained cooks with a view to satisfy the manpower requirement of this category in the Home kitchen or any other food production unit. One of the major objectives is to impart knowledge, which is required for preparation of high standard food.

Training Outcome

On successful completion of this course, a trainee will learn about kitchen layout and its organization, different recipes, cutting of vegetables, meats, fish etc. required for cooking any dish, different cooking methods, preparation of salads, sauces and local “chutneys” etc. He will also learn how to ensure personal conditions and working environment to be hygienic and cleanliness along with ethical values.

Moreover, trainee should be able to explain personal hygiene appearance and grooming. Also be able to describe basic first aid and responding to emergencies as well as describe kitchen sanitation. Trainee should be able to explain safe food handling and how to avoid food from contamination. Describe work ethics and kitchen tools and equipment. Also, explain basic cooking knowledge and food ingredients. Lastly, know how to describe refrigeration and storage of food, and safety practices.
