Overview
This course will allow trainees to learn to cut wood, saw, chisel and be able to make estimations for door frames, furniture etc.
What you will learn
In this course you will learn about common marking and measuring as well as other tools and their uses, for examples handsaws used in wood work, clamping devices, hand planes, screws, nails and other hardware. You will also gain knowledge of the basics such as the types of timber along with their cost and quality, and common wood working machines. Moreover, the course will also teach you useful skills such as how to make and apply woodworking joints, wooden doors and doorframes etc

Training Outcome
After completion of this course you will be able to observe all safety precautions about tools and equipment and gain knowledge of common wood working hand tools and their use and maintenance, such as sharpening and setting of hand saws, sharpening of hand planes and chisels, and maintenance of band saws, circular saws, jointer planes and drill press machines. By the end of this course, you will have learnt how to identify local timber and be able to distinguish between good and defective timber, as well as measure, cut and place / stack timber to the given size.
