What you will learn

In this course, you will learn how to observe safety rules for gas and arc welding, basic skills in first aid, demonstrate fire prevention methods, and understand the use of common hand tools and measuring instruments. You will also learn to perform various positions of welding using gas and arc welding machines (down-hand, vertical and overhead). Set oxygen and acetylene gauges and flames as required for each piece of work demonstrate welding and gas coming and describe various welds and faults

Training Outcome

After completing this course, you will be able to

  1. Observe safety rules for gas and arc welding, wear safety helmet, goggles and clothes, demonstrate the application of basic skills in first aid
  2. Demonstrate fire prevention methods
  3. Understand the use of common hand tools and measuring instruments
  4. Perform various positions of welding using gas and arc welding machines (down-hand, vertical and overhead)
  5. Set oxygen and acetylene gauges and flames as required for each piece of work
  6. Demonstrate welding and gas coming describing various welds and faults
  7. Take preventive actions of back-fire gas leaks and safe handling of oxygen and acetylene
  8. Use measuring tools, gas and arc welding equipment
  9. Take measurements and marking of jobs with measuring instruments and tools
  10. Understand the specifications of electrodes
  11. Undertake gas and arc welding by using down-hand vertical and overhead positions
  12. Perform routine maintenance of workshop equipment
