This course will prepare the trainees to conduct surveys of buildings, roads, bridges, airports, drains, sewer lines, water supplies, canal, dams, railway lines, oil & gas pipe lines, and urban/rural development projects.
Through this course, you will learn about the concepts in surveying and also learn about the nature of the work of a surveyor. You will learn and understand survey principles, classification and primary division of surveys and also learn how to define sources of errors. The course will provide you an insight about the surveying chain, tackling problems in surveying techniques and using surveying instruments. For example, you will learn about levelling and levelling terms and levelling instruments etc. You will also learn about advanced techniques and concepts such as photogrammetry and horizontal and vertical slope distance (measured by tachometer). Moreover, you will also be trained for producing field notes and improving written and oral communication.

After completion of this course you will be able to read linear and angular measurements, chain a line, measure a survey field with chain or tape, range a center line and measure the offsets with chain or tape, and prepare the survey symbols/conventional signs. You will also have learnt how to work on tilting, on auto set and laser levels, and conduct road routing in hilly areas. In addition to this, you will be able to work on conventional, modern and digital theodolite, set out different curves by lines or chain and tape methods as well as angular or instrumental methods i.e. simple or circular curves, transition curves, and vertical curves.
