Welders (SMAW, MAG, MIG & SAW) specialise in welding operations, learning to preform SMAW, MAG, MIG & SAW welding.
What you will learn
In this course you will learn how to work with hand tools, as well as machine tools and equipment, be able to identify common materials and their uses, have basic knowledge of welding, cutting tools, and welding symbols. You will also learn how to read and interpret drawings, how to perform bevel preparation and tacking, have knowledge of gas welding and safety, and learn about the use and safety of GTAW (TIG) welding tools. The course will also teach you how to describe welding joints and their use and selection, inspect and test joints, identify welding defects and how to rectify them, and understand Welding Procedure Specification (WPS).

Training Outcome
After completing this course, you will be able to use common hand tools to measure and grind and will learn about cutting and welding tools and their maintenance. You will also learn how to grind a working piece using pencil grinders and cutting discs to prepare a pipe piece, as well as measure, cut and place MS pipe to a given size. The course will also have taught you how to perform SAW welding of common welding joints in all positions in pipes and distinguish between different metals & electrodes.
