Overview
This course will equip the trainees with all the necessary skills and knowledge required for stitching various dresses, cutting, tailoring and adding finishing touches to garments.
What you will learn
In this course you will learn to identify and make use of various tools and equipment for drafting, cutting and tailoring, identifying and practicing basic (temporary and permanent) and decorative stitches, as well as taking body measurements (length, width and circumference) systematically. You will also master the use of the sewing machine and making different types of seams using bias, piping, facing and plackets and learn how to hand stitch to attach hook and eye buttons etc. In addition, you will learn about the rules of pattern making, layout and fabric estimation, designing, drafting, pattern making cutting, sewing and finishing of the garments as well as folding, ironing, packing and cost evaluation of stitched garments.

Training Outcome
After completing this course you will be able to acquire the skills and knowledge required for dress making and ensuring minor maintenance of machines and quality production of garments. You will also be able to use relevant tools and equipment used in dress making trade, learn sewing terminologies, as well as make designs, drafts and patterns, estimating fabric to cut, tailor and finish garments. The course will also teach you to identify defects, make alterations to adjust fitting, and possess overall skills to make professional garments.
